COMMITTEE 2020 - 21
Henny is a fifth-year medical student currently intercalating in Urgent & Emergency Care. She is interested in EM and paediatrics. Henny is excited to get as many people involved in our events next year as possible. If you have any suggestions for events or how we can help you please get in touch!
VICE PRESIDENT & PCP LEAD
Jonny is a fourth-year medical student having joined the EMS in his first year wanting to find out more about EM. He comes to GKT as a physiology grad from Bristol where he learned the best way to get involved is to throw yourself into something wholeheartedly. Having spent some time working in healthcare since graduating, he’s sure he wants a career in medicine where every day is very different... maybe EM is the answer?
Saman is in his second year on committee and has just completed his third year at GKT. He is currently intercalating with Plymouth, based at King’s College Hospital A&E. A big fan of three letter acronyms, he splits his remaining time between the RAF UAS and LAS as a volunteer emergency responder.
Lewis is currently in his final year of Medicine, having completed the Urgent and Emergency Care BSc at Plymouth last year, and is in to his fifth year on the committee. His main interests are in pre-hospital emergency medicine and critical care. Lewis volunteers with the London Ambulance Service in his free time as an Emergency Responder. Outside of medicine he is involved with a young drivers’ road safety charity and enjoys cycling (slowly).
Razna is a third-year medical student and new to the EMS committee this year. She has a budding interest in EM, Anaesthetics and Cardiology. Whenever met with a spare minute, she can be found munching donuts in The Shed or catching scenic sunsets on walks by the Thames.
Emma is a 3rd year medical student, with a previous degree in physiology from Bristol. Her interests are emergency medicine, psychiatry and palliative medicine. Outside of medicine she is trying to finesse the coveted work-life balance by running around after her toddler whilst attempting to taste test every coffee available within the M25.
Joyce is a fourth-year medical student in her second year on the committee. She has interests in PHEM, cardiology, and anaesthetics, and has just finished her intercalated year in PHEM at Barts. When not volunteering as an Emergency Responder with London Ambulance Service, she spends her time baking and dreaming about the day she’ll own a cat sanctuary.
Loren is a second-year medical student and is new to the EMS committee. He is interested in anaesthetics, intensive care and PHEM. Outside of medicine his interests include cooking, teaching, bouldering and Ultimate Frisbee.
Valerie is a second year medical student and excited to be the Comms Officer for this year. She has interests in emergency medicine, psychiatry, and paeds. Her accent is an interesting mix of American and British, and often gets mistaken for sounding Scottish, Canadian, or Irish.
Nashra is a second year medical student and is very excited to be on such an exciting and interesting committee! Having been involved with the society in her first year through the prehospital care programme, she can honestly say it’s been one of her highlights of starting uni and it only highlighted to her how Emergency medicine is such an interesting field.
Elsa is a final year medical student. This is her 4th year on committee. Elsa's areas of interest are emergency medicine, forensic and legal medicine, and occupational Medicine. When she is not at medical school Elsa is an International luge athlete working towards the olympics.
Sameen is a final year medic, with an interest in Acute Care and Emergency Medicine. She’s been involved with KCLEMS since her first year at university, through different events and the pre-hospital care programme. She remembers being equal parts scared and nervous at her first BLS event when they asked her to scream help as loud as possible (Spoiler alert, first-year Sameen was not very loud). In her spare time, she likes to read, write and travel.
STAGE 1 + 2 REP
Christina is a second year medic who is happy to help and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year rep for 2020. She has an interest in almost any speciality. You could make one up and she'd probably specialise in it.
STAGE 3 REP
Maryam is a final year medical student and newly part of the EM committee as the stage 3 rep. She loved her emergency placement rotation in her fourth year and is excited to explore it more.
